Servcorp and The Doma Group Trivia Night 2010

Servcorp and The Doma Group this year, with the assistance of many generous Canberra sponsors were able to raise $180,000.

All funds were donated directly to Youngcare ($85,000), Home in Queanbeyan ($85,000) and the ACT Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group ($10,000).

Youngcare are currently in the process of building homes nationally for young Australians with high care needs or disabilities who require 24 hour care. There are currently over 6500 young Australians with high care needs living in aged care facilities – no place for young people – Youngcare is all about changing that. Youngcare have also commenced a new initiative called Youngcare Connect – a hotline for families and people with high care needs to provide assistance, advice and support on a 24 hour basis.

HOME in Queanbeyan will be opening on 1 July 2010 – it has been truly amazing to watch this initiative become a reality. HOME in Queanbeyan will provide 24 hour care for 20 people with chronic mental illness who are without proper shelter, care, love and support. HOME will also offer short term respite care for 5 people, enabling the carers and families to have some restorative time.

The ACT Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group is currently offering assistance and support to 1600 families in the ACT and Eden Monaro regions who are facing the realities of cancer on a daily basis. This includes not only support for the person with cancer, but dealing with devastating effects it can have on families emotionally and financially.

We are, as always, humbled by the generosity of the Canberra community and are proud to be associated with companies involved in our quest to make a small contribution to the betterment of our community through improving the quality of the lives of people in need.
